Seattle Opera Songs of Summer with Jamie Barton
Free
Jamie Barton, mezzo-soprano
Jonathan Easter, piano
Following her “dazzling” (The Seattle Times) Seattle Opera debut as Fenena in 2015’s innovative Nabucco, American mezzo-soprano Jamie Barton has garnered international acclaim in an array of powerhouse leading roles at many of the world’s most-loved opera houses, including the Met, Teatro Real Madrid, San Francisco Opera, and Covent Garden.
Her passionate advocacy for LGBTQIA openness and acceptance makes Barton a fabulously well-suited artist for the “Pride” edition of our “Songs of Summer” Recital Series.
Focusing on universal themes related to our shared quarantine experience, the program for Jamie Barton’s June 11 classical (and whimsical) “Songs of Summmer” recital will feature French and English art songs, as well as American standards by Harold Arlen, Leonard Bernstein, and Irving Berlin. Her remarkable voice, good humor, and disarming charm will provide viewers a tonic to weeks of social distancing.
The livestream will take place at 7pm Pacific.
