Igor Stravinsky – Three Pieces for Solo Clarinet
J.S. Bach – Violin Sonata No. 1 in G minor, BWV 1001
J.S. Bach (Trans. Delécluse) – Sarabande and Minuets from Cello Suite No. 1 in G major, BWV 1007

Join CSO Principal Clarinet Stephen Williamson and Associate Concertmaster Stephanie Jeong for a pre-recorded recital followed by a live Q&A hosted by Scholar-in-Residence and Program Annotator Phillip Huscher.

Williamson performs Stravinsky’s Three Pieces for Solo Clarinet, an instrument for which the composer wrote some of his most innovative melodies, from The Rite of Spring to A Soldier’s Tale. Jeong performs the first of J.S. Bach’s iconic six violin sonatas, typified by its sense of calm and the plaintive tone of the open strings (G and D) that reverberate throughout its four movements. Williamson returns with an arrangement from Bach’s beloved Cello Suite No. 1 by the celebrated 20th-century French clarinetist Ulysse Delécluse.

The concert begins at 7pm Central / 5pm Pacific.

Don’t miss this opportunity for riveting solo performances and conversation with CSO musicians!
