Augustin Hadelich, violin
Orion Weiss, piano

Claude Debussy – Violin Sonata in G minor, L. 140
Johannes Brahms – Violin Sonata No. 2 in A major, Op. 100
John Adams – Road Movies

Italian-born German violinist Augustin Hadelich and American pianist Orion Weiss, a former Tanglewood Fellow, began touring together as a duo in 2019.

For their 2020 Tanglewood recital they chose three works that they feel communicate with one another across their very different styles. The lyricism of Brahms’s A major sonata is rooted in melodies he had used originally in songs. Debussy’s Violin Sonata, the composer’s final completed major work, is arguably his finest and most personal chamber work. From 1995 is John Adams’s sonata-like Road Movies, its title suggested by the driving, swinging grooves of its three movements.

Available July 25, 2020 at 8pm Eastern / 5pm Pacific, through August 1.
