Wayne Weng, piano

Pianist Wayne Weng’s playing has been described as “vibrant and immensely musical”, and as having “delicacy amounting to almost reverence through gossamer touch”. (Wiltshire Gazette & Herald) His “ability to modulate the piano’s sound coupled with his great ear easily gave him an edge” (Sioux City Journal) to win the first prize at the 2013 Iowa Piano Competition. His musical interests and skills extend beyond classical music. An avid improviser, he enjoys drawing connections between classical and non-classical music. For this live stream, he will be presenting an eclectic program that features juxtapositions of various genres and draws connections, both obvious and surprising, among great composers. The program will include music by Frédéric Chopin, Franz Liszt, Johannes Brahms, Nikolai Medtner, Claude Debussy, George Gershwin, and Radiohead.

The livestream will take place at 2pm Pacific.
