Wayne Horvitz – R and R, a suite in three movements
Composer and South Hudson Music Project executive director Wayne Horvitz has composed R and R, a suite in three movements, each 10 minutes in length for string trio, percussion and improvising soloists. Inspired by the recordings of the Sonatas for Cello and Piano by Mstislav Rostropovich and Sviatoslav Richter, each of the three movements plays with the sonata form as interpreted for the 21st century, with each movement representing one part of a three-part sonata form. The piece will be performed by Horvitz and special guest improvising soloists.
