Compline Choir: The Office of Compline
Free (Free)
Update 7/9/2021: Compline to welcome in-person congregation beginning August 22.
Update 2/15/2021: Saint Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral remains closed as a public gathering place until further notice. The Compline Choir will resume using vocal quartets on February 21, 2021. Compline is sung every Sunday night at 9:30pm (Pacific) at Saint Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral in Seattle, Washington. The service can be heard live on Classical 98.1 KING-FM or king.org; we also offer podcasts of recent services at complinepodcast.org. We anticipate resuming the video livestream on March 7, 2021.
Every Sunday evening at 9:30pm in the Cathedral’s nave, the all-male Compline Choir leads this formal choral service that is a Seattle tradition. When Saint Mark’s Cathedral is open, an average audience of 250-300 packs the Cathedral each week for this meditative service. Many more listen to the broadcast on KING-FM, 98.1 on the radio dial. Some weeks, informal organ recitals follow Compline at around 10pm.
Since 2020, video of the service has been livestreamed each week — watch at saintmarks.org/livestream, on the cathedral's YouTube channel, at facebook.com/SaintMarksSeattle, or at facebook.com/ComplineChoir. The livestream will continue indefinitely.
An Order for Compline can be found in the Book of Common Prayer as part of the Anglican services of daily prayer, known collectively as the Daily Office.
