New York City's Warp Trio has spent the past few months writing, recording, and shooting a 30-minute, 6-track, pandemic-inspired video-concept-album. Collaborating with the amazing vocalists Mirah, Likwuid, Raina Sokolov-Gonzalez, Daniel Henri Emond, and Claire Wellin, as well as animator Sophia Qin and filmmaker Andrew Wells-Ryder, they have created an out-of-this-world (but relevant) work that delves into the craziness of the past year and the very serious issues that have come to light, juxtaposed against the campy backdrop of the "Pandemic Disco".
It's a little bit Yellow Submarine, a little bit The Wall, and a little bit Thriller, so expect to hear some killin' vocals, disco strings, slap bassin' around, and a ton of glitter on this wild ride from Warp Trio. While the album won't officially come out until August 20, this performance is a special advance screening, courtesy of Groupmuse. Keeping with the music for film vibe, they will pair their video premiere with a short introductory set of music by film composers Miklós Rózsa and Joe Hisaishi.
The broadcast will take place at 7:30pm Eastern / 4:30pm Pacific.
