Guitarist Alvaro Henrique considers music the language of emotion, and aims to help audiences to speak and understand better this language. Henrique’s programs include a host of plucked instruments covering a fascinating range of history and cultures, from Heitor Villa-Lobos, Domenico Scarlatti, & Mauro Giuliani, to transcriptions of P.I. Tchaikovsky and Igor Stravinsky, and
new works.

As a soloist, Henrique has performed in 15 countries. Among the conductors he’s worked with are Julio Medaglia, Ville Mankkinen, and Angelo Cavallaro. With an interest in social activism, Alvaro’s projects have included commissioning
works centered on social issues, like Jorge Antunes’ Brasilia 50.

He was awarded in Brazil and Canada, and works at the Escola de Musica de Brasilia, Brazil.
