Antonín Dvořák – Piano Quintet No. 2 in A major, Op. 81 B. 155

Dvorak’s Piano Quintet No. 2 is a joyful and celebratory addition to the rich canon of Romantic piano quintets including those by Johannes Brahms, Robert Schumann, Edward Elgar, and César Franck. Written at his summer retreat, as seems to be the case with many sunny works throughout history, Dvořák incorporates an endless stream of folk melodies and dances including a Dumka (Ukrainian lament) in movement 2, and Furiant (Bohemian folk dance) in movement 3. The outer movements show Dvořák's talent for crafting large musical narratives and rambunctious dances.

The livestream will take place at 3pm Pacific.
