Francesco Piemontesi, piano
Richard Strauss – Burleske in D minor, TrV 145
Gustav Mahler – Symphony No. 6 in A minor "Tragic"
Music Director Thomas Dausgaard conducts Mahler’s tragic Sixth Symphony. Driven, bitter and sweet by turns, the music is haunted by echoes of a military march stalking through the symphony. Brief moments of nostalgia suggest hope might win — but in the end, Mahler revealed, the mighty hammer-blows of fate fell the hero “like the stroke of an ax.”
The concert will take place at 2pm.
Season subscription packages are now available. Individual ticket prices TBD.
