Second City concerts are accessible to all. Children and students are welcome at our concerts! We love seeing whole families at our concerts. We simply request that you be considerate of our audience. If your child is too young to sit through a movie in the theater without talking, they may not yet be ready to be in our audience. Thank you for your consideration.

All our concerts are wheelchair-accessible. If you need extra assistance getting from your car to our concert venue, please call (253) 572-8863. We will gladly assist you!

A note from Svend Rønning, artistic director: Some of you who have been paying particularly close attention may remember that this concert was originally titled "Lucy, Meet the Count." As we reflected more on the world's current situation, the time seemed perfect for Shostakovich's famous utterance on the dangers of fascism and war. I'm referring, of course, to his best known string quartet, the String Quartet No. 8, dedicated "to the victims of fascism and war." It seemed that as Halloween is upon us this year, we might not just present the music of imaginary ghosts and goblins, but of true monsters in history. Whether Shostakovich is referring in his dedication to Stalin or Hitler (or both) is not clear, but the emotional impact of this work, especially in live performance, is unforgettable, and the quartet's message timely.
