Tacoma Symphony Mini Maestros: Once Upon A String
$10 ($7 children)
Join the Tacoma Symphony Orchestra String Quintet for a fantasy-filled introduction to the string family. Listeners will be taken to a land far, far away to explore the contrasts of high/low, slow/fast and loud/soft while learning all the ins and outs of what makes the string family truly unique. The music featured in this concert will be a balance between popular classical pieces, music from the movies and children’s tunes that the whole family will enjoy... and everyone lives happily ever after!
Mini Maestros concerts are an informal concert offering specially created for children ages 2-8 and their grown-ups. Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf, with the full orchestra, opened the series. This will be followed by three programs for smaller ensembles – providing for an interactive, close encounter with the musicians. With curriculum prepared by early childhood learning experts, the 45-minute “informances” feature elements to engage children both physically and mentally. An instrument petting zoo starts one hour before each concert.
