The Sammamish Symphony Orchestra will be collaborating with Everett Chorale, Rainier Chorale and Choir of the Sound on the wonderful S. Mark Taper Auditorium stage in the magnificent acoustics of Benaroya Hall, for one performance only.
Each participating group will first perform individually. Then, in a breathtaking finale, the combined artists along with special guest soloists Glenn Guhr (baritone) Ksenia Popova (soprano) and Paul Karaitis (tenor), and members of Northwest Girl Choir, will perform one of the most spectacular choral works of all time: Carl Orff’s magnificent and dramatic Carmina Burana, conducted by Mark Adrian.
Carmina Burana is a scenic cantata composed by Carl Orff in 1935 and 1936, based on 24 poems from the medieval collection, Carmina Burana. Orff was born in Munich on the 10th July, 1895 and died on March 29, 1982 at the age of 87. He was an educationalist as well as a composer.
Orff's work contains driving rhythms and exultant hedonism, and brought him to wide attention in the musical world.
Under the direction of Conductor Adam Stern, The Sammamish Symphony will also perform a feature work, Selections from Le Cid, the ballet suite by Massenet.
Tickets are available online, or by phone through the Sammamish Symphony box office: (206) 517-7777.
