Evan Hjort, violin (winner of the 2015 Don Bushell Concerto Competition)
Adam Stern, conductor
Seattle Philharmonic Orchestra

Respighi – Rossiniana ("Les Riens")
Szymanowski – Concerto No. 2 for Violin and Orchestra
Beethoven – Symphony No. 4 in B-flat major, Op. 60

Hector Berlioz was so entranced by the heavenly slow movement of Beethoven's Symphony No. 4 that he claimed it had to have been written by the Archangel Michael and not by a mere mortal. This lyrical symphony is balanced by the high-spirited Rossiniana by Ottorino Respighi, a suite for large orchestra based on short piano pieces by Gioachino Rossini. The soloist for this concert will be Evan Hjort, winner of the orchestra's 2015 Don Bushell Competition, in a performance of Karol Szymanowski's Violin Concerto No. 2, Op. 61.

Youth 16 or younger can attend for free! Just print out the voucher here: http://seattlephil.org/images/youthticket.jpg
