Russian Chamber Music Festival Artist Concert feat. Craig Sheppard

Shostakovich – 24 Preludes and Fugues, Op. 87, Nos. 1-12
The Russian Chamber Music Foundation of Seattle is pleased to announce that this year's Festival Artist is a Seattle favorite, pianist Craig Sheppard. Dr. Sheppard will perform his highly acclaimed program of Shostakovich's 24 Preludes and Fugues, Op. 87, Nos. 1-12.
In an international career that has spanned close to five decades, Sheppard has captivated audiences with his dynamism and intensity, allied to scholarly depth and objectivity. His 2014-15 season included performances of all 24 Preludes and Fugues, Op. 87, of Shostakovich in Houston, San Francisco, Oberlin, Shanghai, Beijing (the Forbidden City Concert Hall), and Seattle’s Meany Theater. He continues the 2015-16 season with performances of the Shostakovich in New York, London, and Jerusalem, as well as several American universities.
In addition to his performance as Festival Artist, Dr. Sheppard will serve as judge for the 2015 Russian Music Festival/Competition, which is free and open to the public on December 5th. Students of all ages will perform solo piano, violin, cello, and chamber music beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Mercer Island Presbyterian Church.
