Dome's Day: The Centennial of the Collapse of the Great Dome
Free
On February 2, 1916, just nine years after the dedication of St. James Cathedral, the great dome collapsed in a snowstorm. Images of the destruction made the news as far away as Honolulu and Philadelphia!
On the centennial of the disaster, we gather to look back on a never-to-be-forgotten day. With beautiful music, dramatic narrations, and lots of fun, we give thanks for the resilience and vision of the builders of the Cathedral, and for this wonderful building, which one-hundred years later continues to be a house of prayer for all people.
The program will last about an hour, and will be followed by a festive reception. All are welcome!
