G. Kahane – Crane Palimpsest (2012)
Mozart – Requiem in D minor (1792)

The final performance of the Sinfonietta season brings one of the most monumental works in classical music to life: Mozart's stunning Requiem. Sketched on his deathbed, this composition is considered one of the pinnacles of the composer's musical achievements. The orchestra is joined by the Seattle Choral Company, under the direction of Freddie Coleman. The first half of this program features pioneering vocalist and composer Gabriel Kahane, acclaimed for his seamless blend of classical and indie-pop influences in his compositions. He presents his Crane Palimpsest, a 2012 work premiered with the American Composers Orchestra at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

--> LMP Critic's Pick: "Mozart composed his Requiem right before his death, but he was still at the height of his powers. Northwest Sinfonietta and Seattle Choral Company present this beautiful moving work along with the Seattle premiere of Gabriel Kahane’s 'Crane Palimpsest,' a total change of pace." ~ Seattle music critic Philippa Kiraly
