Johann Sebastian Bach — Selected works

Lauded by Gramophone Magazine as “one of the world’s top baroque orchestras,” Canada’s award-winning period instrument ensemble, Tafelmusik, is known around the world for its creative, innovative new contexts for the performance of baroque and classical music. Tafelmusik presents their latest innovation, J.S. Bach: The Circle of Creation. Circle of Creation combines text, music, and stunning projected video and images to explore the world of the artisans — papermakers, violin carvers, string spinners and performers — who helped J.S. Bach realize his musical genius.

--> This performance is an LMP Critic's Pick: "Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra and Chamber Choir brings to Meany Theater another of its lively and imaginative concerts with video, images, and text as well as music in its latest multimedia presentation: J.S. Bach: The Circle of Creation. It covers all sorts of aspects to which Bach had to pay attention, from the artisans who made violins or built harpsichords to the paper his music was written down on." ~ Philippa Kiraly

(Critic's Picks are selected for the LMP by Seattle music critics Philippa Kiraly and Thomas May.)

Presented in collaboration with Early Music Guild.
