Chris Aquavella: Solo Classical Mandolin Masterpieces
Join us for a special concert of solo classical mandolin from 18th-century composers to contemporary masterpieces, performed by Chris Aquavella. The mandolin has a captivating and haunting quality which will resonate beautifully in the intimate setting of the Epiphany Chapel. Chris, who is from San Diego and lives in Germany, performs the classical mandolin across Europe and America in both a solo and chamber music capability, as well as with various orchestras and festivals. He plays on period and modern mandolins, using appropriate techniques of each time period, and will share the fascinating and entertaining historical context of each piece in the repertoire.
Chris studied at the Trinity Laban Conservatory of Music in London, under the instruction of Alison Stephens, who gained renown for playing on the soundtrack of Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.
