Robert Honstein – An Index of Possibility
re·create percussion presents a night of mesmerizing lights and percussion music. Hosted by Fred Wildlife Refuge, this evening takes classical contemporary music out of the concert hall and into the nightlife of Capitol Hill. Light artist Kevin Blanquies uses custom light fixtures and programming to create an immersive performance space, transforming An Index of Possibility into a multimedia experience.
An Index of Possibility is a six-movement composition by Robert Honstein for percussion trio. The instrumentation is far from traditional – a hodgepodge of everyday objects, scrap materials, and cheap toys. Coupled with phenomenal writing, the end result is a collection of soundscapes that seamlessly flow from one to another – ethereal melodies, meditative ostinatos, and explosive waves of sound.
Each strike is accented with a burst of photons, each hum accompanied by a flow of color, each passing note escaping with a flicker.
This experience won't be one to miss.

EARTHTONESKYTONE is a duo collaboration between Kelsey Mines (bass, composition) and Carlos Snaider (guitar, udu, composition). ETST explores rhythmic possibilities in flow, cycle, and song; grounding sounds of bass/percussion mixed with the subtlety of strings and voice informing the dialogue; and an expression of dance of/in/for the present moment.
