The opening night of Westerlies Fest 2021 will feature Seattle-bred, Brooklyn based singer/songwriter Margaux. Margaux's critically acclaimed debut EP, More Brilliant is the Hand that Throws the Coin, was described by Pitchfork as "a statement of serious self possession, a record of huge songs written by a young person with an unnerving degree of precision and command." Margaux will present a batch of brand-new songs in a pre-recorded performance produced exclusively for Westerlies Fest.
The Westerlies will present the premiere of a brand new piece by Anthony Hervey, winner of the Westerlies Fest 2021 Commission Contest.
About the Fest: Combining collaborative evening performances and new commissions with in-school concerts and a free community music workshop, Seattle-bred, New York-based brass quartet The Westerlies created Westerlies Fest in 2018 to engage students and audiences in Seattle and give back to the city that raised them.
Nightly performances on YouTube will feature The Westerlies and an eclectic lineup of guest artists and collaborators including Michael Mayo, Margaux Bouchegnies, Morgan Henderson, and ChamberQUEER.
The broadcast will take place at 7pm Pacific.
