Lykanthea
Lykanthea is the project of Lakshmi Ramgopal, a multidisciplinary artist based in New York and Chicago whose work spans installations and ensemble performances that experiment with South Indian sound and movement traditions. Her Quarantine Concert will feature a dreamy, austere, solo performance of new music to raise money for the ensemble of musicians who have become an integral part of Lykanthea.
Lakshmi's recently opened Hive, a sculpture and sound installation in collaboration with visual artist Nancy Davidson, at Krannert Art Museum, and is currently wrapping up her second EP, titled Some Viscera, for release later this year. Hear her music at lykanthea.com.
The Quarantine Concerts are a collaborative endeavor meant to provide artists a space to share their work and continue to earn a living during this time when most live performance opportunities have been cancelled due to COVID-19. We believe in the necessity of art during difficult moments like these, and feel fortunate to live in a time when loss of mobility does not have to mean loss of community. Thank you for being here.
The livestream will take place at 6 PM Central / 4 PM Pacific.
