Works for solo guitarist dutifully following the instructions given by the composers 63 and 53 years ago, followed by a growing ensemble of players that will be alternately improvising freely and following a very open set of instructions.

Expanding the contemporary classical saxophone repertoire, Kevin Baldwin will premiere new works by local Seattle composers, as well as lesser-performed pieces from famed composers Luciano Berio, Gerard Grisey and Giacinto Scelsi.

Faculty pianist Cristina Valdes performs Helmut Lachenmann's Ein Kinderspiel and Giacinto Scelsi's Quattro Illustrazioni. New Jazz Studies appointee Greg Sinibaldi leads an orchestral ensemble of musicians from across UW Music programs through a guided improvisation.
