A mio modo celebrates the individual creative spirits and fantastical conceptions of Stile Moderno, the modern 17th-century composition style. Pallade Musica traces the emergence of Stile Moderno with sonatas by Castello and Mealli, and reaches the pinnacle of the Stylus Phantasticus with Buxtehude’s spectacular trios and Biber’s dramatic Mystery sonatas.

Plague is a shared human experience. Throughout history, it has inspired artists to create works that reflect our fears, despair, loss, hope and redemption. This concert presents the musical response of Medieval European composers such as Machaut, Landini and Dufay alongside readings and songs from West Africa. The audience will be invited to make a free-will donation to support the activities of Doctors Without Borders and the Hope Project in West Africa.

Constantinople and guest soprano Suzie LeBlanc reinvent the cantatas of 17th-century singer and composer Barbara Strozzi, a worthy heiress of Monteverdi, who created a secular vocal repertoire that intoxicates the senses. Metamorfosi Musicali also features instrumental works of Johannes Kapsberger, whose spontaneous phrasing and sharp contrasts provide fertile ground for Constantinople’s improvisations.
